Pohutukawa Coast Reserves

Orere Point, Maraetai Reserve and Green Bay reserves, Pine Harbour form important coastal forest and recreation areas along this north coast of the old Manukau City. Nick Robinson was engaged to prepare concept and detailed designs and to supervise the landscape contracts for the restoration and enhancement of parts of these reserves affected by land slips. The project involved careful selection of species and plant assemblages to restore and strengthen the natural plant communities on these important coastal scrub and forest sites, preparation of tender documents and site supervision. Project status: Completed

The clay bank above the sand and shell beach was vulnerable to erosion and was treated with regrading, surface geotextile and coastal planting

New pathways through the reserve and down to the beach had to traverse steep tree clad slopes

Steep banks were planted with fast growing pioneer coastal natives and surfaced with biodegradable geotextile
